Pioneers Fall to Broome in Opener

Submitted by WelkerPM on Tue, 11/03/2009 - 10:51pm

The Alfred State College men's basketball team dropped a 97-83 decision to Broome CC as they opened up their 2009-10 season.

After a back and forth opening ten minutes, Broome CC jumped out to a lead and never gave it up.  Alfred State would battle back to within one point from deficits of as much as 14 but could never gain the lead back.

Five Pioneers finished in double-figures led by 15 points from both Younatan Gobezai (Bethesda, MD) and Resean Parris (Benjamin Banneker).  Neil Wilson (Ft. Worth, TX) and Chris Dalton (Elmira Southside) each finished with 13 and Lydell Wilson (Freeport) chipped in 12 points.

The blue & gold open up the home portion of their season on Thursday when they host Corning CC at 7:30 p.m.
