ASC drops WNYAC finale

Submitted by WelkerPM on Tue, 10/20/2009 - 9:20pm

The Alfred State College volleyball team couldn't overcome a slow start and fell 3-1 (16-25, 21-25, 25-14, 22-25) to Erie CC in their WNYAC regular season finale.  The Lady Pioneers are now 16-14 overall, 14-13 in Region III Division III contests, and 2-4 in WNYAC matches.

Emily Linn (Portville) had team highs with 15 kills, 18 digs, and five blocks to lead the blue & gold.  Brittany Haines (Salamanca) was credited with 30 assists, eight digs, and four kills while Kelley Dumbleton (Warsaw) added eight kills and four blocks.

The Lady Pioneers will travel to Niagara CCC on Saturday for the annual WNYAC Tournament.  Most likely, ASC will be the #5 seed and will play the #4 seed in the quarterfinals.  The pairings for the tournament will be officially announced later this week.
