ASC Students Help in Gowanda

Gowanda clean up

On Sept. 12, 33 Alfred State students, representing 11 different clubs and organizations, traveled to Gowanda to help clean up and facilitate repairs resulting from the damaging storms on Aug. 9 and 10 of this year. These storms were so severe, the White House made federal aid available to areas of western New York struck by the storms and flooding in August. Student clubs and organizations involved in the Community Service project were Delta Chi Omega, Kappa Sigma Epsilon, Drama Club, Sports Management Club, Alpha Beta Chi, WETD, Surveying Club, Interior Design Club, Black Student Union (BSU), Habitat for Humanity, and the Association of General Contractors (AGC) Club. The trip was sponsored by the Civic Engagement and Activism Headquarters, (CEAH) which is part of Student Activities Department. Melissa Sokolinski, Walden, construction engineering technology, the student coordinator for Civic Engagement, arranged and facilitated the highly rewarding and successful event.
