Submitted by WelkerPM on Wed, 10/14/2009 - 10:42am

The women's soccer team at Alfred State College sits in the NJCAA Division III top ten for the fourth straight week.  The Lady Pioneers are currently 9-2-3 (8-2-2 Region III Division III) on the season and sit in the #8 ranking.

In their last two contests, ASC has taken on fellow top ten opponents.  The Lady Pioneers allowed a late goal and fell 2-1 to #4 Herkimer CCC (13-3) on Saturday and then tied #5 Finger Lakes CC (12-3-1) 0-0 yesterday afternoon.

The Lady Pioneers have allowed just six goals all season and have recorded nine shutouts.  Mo Parks (Avoca) has a 0.42 goals against average in front of a solid defense led by Audrey Rath (Medina), Jackie Matteson (Greece Arcadia), and Chelsea Lafayette (Irondequoit).

Jessie Smith (Fredonia) leads the offense with 19 points on eight goals and three assists while Therese Hubbel (Bishop Kearney) has found the back of the net five times.

The blue & gold conclude their regular season on Saturday when they host Corning CC at Pioneer Stadium beginning at 1 p.m.
