Lady Pioneers Continue Climb Up Rankings

Submitted by WelkerPM on Wed, 10/07/2009 - 2:41pm

For the third straight week the Alfred State College women's soccer team has moved up the rankings in the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  This week the Lady Pioneers climb two spots to the #6 ranking.

The blue & gold are currently 9-1-2 on the season following a 3-0 week in which they outscored their opponents 10-1.  ASC downed JCC-Olean 2-0, Erie CC 4-1, and Cayuga CC 4-0.

Jessie Smith (Fredonia) had a big week for ASC finding the back of the net five times and passing out two assists.  Mo Parks (Avoca) continued her stellar play by recording two more shutouts.

Alfred State has three regular season games remaining.  ASC will next travel to #4 Herkimer CCC (12-1) on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.  They wrap up the road portion of their season on Oct. 15 at #10 Finger Lakes CC (11-3) before taking on Corning CC in their home finale.
