Submitted by WelkerPM on Thu, 10/01/2009 - 8:23pm

After falling behind 1-0, the Alfred State College women's soccer team got the offense going in a 4-1 victory over Erie CC on Thursday evening.  With the victory, the Lady Pioneers, ranked #8 in Division III of the NJCAA, are 8-1-2 (7-1-1 Region III Division III) on the season.

Mariah Hoeber gave Erie CC the lead twenty minutes in when she scored after getting a crossing pass from Suzanne Jacobs.

Jessie Smith (Fredonia) tied the game twelve minutes later when she scored on a penalty kick.  She gave the blue & gold the lead for good with 7:09 left in the half when she scored her second of the game and fourth of the week after getting a break-a-way pass from Shelby Winchester (Maple Grove).

Morgan Scholla (Genesee Valley) added to the lead with 33:46 remaining in the game when she scored her first of the season after getting a pass from Smith.  Smith found Therese Hubbel (Bishop Kearney) to make it 4-1 with 29 minutes remaining.

Mo Parks (Avoca) and Megan O'Shaughnessey (Sachem) combined to make three saves in net for ASC.  The Pioneers held a 14 to 4 shot advantage.

The Lady Pioneers return to action on Saturday when they travel to Cayuga CC for 1 p.m. start.
