Alfred State College’s Division of Student Affairs made a pre-emptive strike against the outbreak of influenza-like-illnesses (ILI) recently by distributing “flu kits” to students at both campuses during the lunch and dinner hours at their respective dining halls. The flu kits included reusable thermometers, hand sanitizer, soap, tea, soup, and other items, presented in re-usable cloth bags. Members of the Health Services staff were also on hand to answer questions. The school will also host an open forum regarding ILI to inform campus constituents about its preparedness planning and answer any questions regarding H1N1. Pictured here, distributing the bags are, seated, l-r: Lindsay Truesdail, Owego, a freshman nursing student; Jo Ellen York, instructional support assistant, ASC Health Services; Dr. Jerri Drummond, associate vice president for student affairs. Gratefully accepting the bags are, left, Larry Williams, Buffalo, a freshman marketing student, and, right, Tyree Doggett, Buffalo, a building trades: building construction senior.
