Check Presentation During Homecoming/Family Weeked 2009

Submitted by HoyerSM on Mon, 09/28/2009 - 3:01pm

Homecoming/Family Weekend 2009Homecoming/Family Weekend at Alfred State College may have weathered a little rain, but that didn’t dampen the spirits during half-time (of a successful football game where the Alfred State Pioneers downed Globe Institute of Technology, NYC,  8-3) when Centennial Campaign honorary co-chairs Dr. William D. Rezak, president emeritus of ASC, and Wellsville native Erland (“Erkie”) Kailbourne, 1961 graduate of ASC and retired chairman/CEO, Fleet Bank, presented current ASC President Dr. John M. Anderson with a check for $7,564,472 raised in honor of the college’s 100th birthday (2008).  In one of the largest capital campaigns ever at a SUNY College of Technology, Alfred State exceeded its $3.4M Centennial Campaign goal by over 100%. At campaign’s end, the College had raised cash and pledges of over $7.5M. The three-year campaign, timed to coincide with the College’s hundredth birthday in 2008, concluded on June 30, 2009. The primary uses of the money and pledges raised were to fund the new Construction Workforce Development Center at the Wellsville Campus of Applied Technology, and to expand the capabilities of the agriculture programs on the Alfred campus.
