Gustafson Named SUNY Chancellor Award Winner

Alfred State College sophomore wrestler Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) has been named a recipient of the 2009 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Athletes.  Gustafson is the honoree out of all two-year wrestlers nominated.

Gustafson qualified for the NJCAA National Championship following a 13-11 season.  He earned 2nd team All-Region and All-WNYAC honors with 2nd place finish at the Regional on February 15.  Gustafson's season highlight came at the NCCC Open where he was 5-1 and wrestled to a 3rd place finish in a highly competitive 133 lb. field.

In the classroom, Gustafson carries a 3.89 GPA in Mechanical Design Engineering Technology.

2009 is the third consecutive year and fourth overall that an Alfred State College wrestler has been honored with the SUNY Chancellor's Award.
