Dr. Richard Kellogg Author of Article

Dr. Richard Kellogg, professor of psychology at Alfred State College, is the author of an article appearing in the most recent issue of Paperback Parade, a quarterly magazine published by Gryphon Books of Brooklyn.  Titled "Philip Wylie's Final Dream," the article notes that author Philip Wylie (1902-1971) was writing about global warming, contamination of our air and water, and the grave risks of nuclear power long before these issues reached public consciousness.

Wylie's major theme in several of his books is that attempts to manipulate nature through modern technology may actually result in a series of unexpected disasters and the destruction of our natural environment.  He often wrote about mutated microbes, a poisoned water supply, and the risk of nuclear plants getting out of control.  Kellogg notes that Wylie deserves much credit for helping to lead the environmental movement in this country.

Dr. Kellogg joined the Alfred State faculty in 1970 after completing doctoral studies at the University of Rochester.  He is the author of three books on Sherlock Holmes and is a frequent contributor to popular magazines and professional journals.
