NYS Sen. Catharine M. Young Honored

Fogarty, Young, and Anderson

NYS Sen. Catharine M. Young (R-Olean) was honored by Alfred State College recently with the President's Medallion, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the college.

The medallion, an exact replica of the one worn by Alfred State College President Dr. John M. Anderson, was presented at a dinner in the senator's honor in late April, by Anderson and Alfred State College Council Chair Patricia K. Fogarty.

Among the many advocacy activities for which Sen. Young was honored include her consistency in voting in support of higher education in New York State; her dedication to projects on the Alfred State College campus; her advocacy for $4.9 million in start-up funding for the Center for Organic and Sustainable Agriculture; her support of funding of $100,000 toward the Center for Workforce Development on the ASC Wellsville campus; for championing the awarding of $33.5 million in funding for a new student center on the Alfred State College campus; and her support for higher education at Alfred State by consistently and good naturedly participating at major ASC campus events.
