Softball Splits at Jamestown

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Alfred State College and Jamestown CC split a pair of games in a WNYAC doubleheader on Thursday.  ASC fell 3-0 in the opener but bounced back for a 2-1 win in game two.  The Lady Pioneers are now 12-15 overall on the season and 9-6 in Region III Division III play.

Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) pitched well in the opener but the Lady Pioneer offense couldn't get anything going.  She tossed six solid inning allowing just two while striking out three.  Jessica Herbst (Naples) collected Alfred State's lone hit.

In the nightcap, ASC was held to two hits but was able to pull out the victory.  Theleman drove home a run on a single and Heather Gerace (Avon) drove in the winning run on a sacrifice hit.  Herbst allowed just one earned run in six innings of work to earn the victory.  She allowed six hits and struck out six.  Theleman came out of the pen and got the final three outs to earn the save.

Alfred State returns home this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders.  They square off with Erie CC at 1 p.m. on Saturday and versus Tompkins Cortland CC at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
