Submitted by WelkerPM on Tue, 04/14/2009 - 7:26pm

The Alfred State College lacrosse team fell behind early and never could fully recover in a 12-10 loss to Monroe CC.  The Pioneers see their four game winning streak end and are now 6-2 on the year while the Tribunes registered their fourth straight victory and improve to 7-4.

MCC jumped out to a 4-0 lead early on and led 8-4 at halftime.  It was 10-6 after three quaters but the Pioneers scored three times in the 4th quarter to close it to 10-9 with 3:44 remaining.  MCC got back-to-back goals to put the game out of reach.

Ryan Speciale (Corning West) led the offense with three goals and an assist.  Ryan Grogan (Churchville) registered a goal and three asists while William Ardolino (William Floyd) and Cory Mee (Churchville) each had a goal and an assist.  Tony Micelotta (Irondequoit), Josh Mateo (Waterloo), James Moss (Hilton), Ben Rossignolo (Churchville), and Chase Bailey (Corning West) each scored once for the blue and gold.

Marshall Merritt (Marcellus) made 23 saves in net for the Pioneers.

Alfred State returns home on Friday for a 4 p.m. showdown with Finger Lakes CC.
