Lady Pioneers Split with OCC

The Alfred State College softball team split a road doubleheader with Onondaga CC on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Pioneers won the opener 12-6 but fell 7-3 in the nightcap.

Six Lady Pioneers collected multiple hits in the opener.  Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) and Holly Fitzpatrick were each 3 for 3 with 2 RBI, Jessica Herbst (Naples) was 3-5 with an RBI, and Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) was 3 for 5 with a RBI.  Leandra Spoor (Laurens) was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI whlie Katherine McCarthy (Orchard Park) was 2 for 4.  Theleman earned the win on the mound allowing four hits while striking out six.

In the nightcap, OCC scored five unearned runs in the 4th inning to take control of the contest.  Loder and Spoor were each 2 for 4 while Melissa Gifford (Jamestown) was 1 for 2.

The Pioneers are now 7-8 overall and 4-2 in the Region III Division III play.  They return to the road on Tuesday for a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Niagara CCC.
