Pioneers Win Track Quad

Both the men's and women's Alfred State College track and field teams finished on top of the ASC Quad Meet held Friday afternoon.  The men scored 186.5 points while the women scored 138 points.

Rod Streater (Burlington, NJ) won the 100 meter dash (10.5) and was 2nd in the high jump (1.87 m).  Dan Reynolds (Wayland Cohocton) won the pole vault (4.27 m) while Alex Curran (Williamson) was 2nd (4.11 m).  David Gross (Brockport) was 1st in the hammer throw (44.54) and 2nd in the discus (40.61 m).  Logan Drummer (Pioneer) won the 1500 (4:24.9) while Russell Weidler (Laurens) won the long jump (6.40 m).

Schuyler Duross (Johnstown) was 2nd in the 110 hurdles (17.4), 2nd in the 400 hurdles (1:01.1), and 2nd in the triple jump (12.91 m).  Brian Zintel (Letchworth) was 2nd in the 800 m (2:04.2), Matt Owlett (Alfred Almond) was 2nd in the 1500 (4:25.7), and Corey Smith (Wallkill) was 2nd in the 5000 (17:25.0).

Alfred State's 186.5 points was ahead of Erie CC's 168, Alfred University's 104, and Finger Lakes CC's 85.5.

Lindsay Johnson (Dansville) led the women with two first place finishes.  She won the shot put (9.11 m) and the hammer throw (30.72 m).  Shawna McNeil (Hornell) won the 400 m hurdles (1:12.4) and was 2nd in the high jump (1.55 m).  Emily Johns (Bath) won the high jump (1.55 m) and was 2nd in the long jump (4.58 m).  Heather Sears (Letchworth) won the pole vault (2.12 m) and Reaghan Bulkley (Avoca) won the long jump (4.99 m).

The Lady Pioneers' 138 points was ahead of Finger Lakes CC's 102, Erie CC's 84, and Alfred University's 73.

ASC travels to the University of Rochester Invitational next Saturday.
