Softball Falls to a Pair of DII Teams

The Alfred State College softball team dropped a pair of games to NJCAA Division II competition on Thursday at Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC.  In the opener, ASC fell 3-1 to Potomac (WV) State and 12-1 to Southwestern (IA) CC.

Amanda Theleman (Whitney Point) pitched tough in the opener but was the tough luck loser.  She tossed six innings allowing four hits and one earned run.  Leandra Spoor (Laurens) was 2 for 4 with a run while Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) was 2 for 4.

In the nightcap, Southwestern scored seven runs in the first to take full control of the game.  Spoor was 1 for 3 with an RBI while Alicia McFarland (Avoca) was 2 for 2 with the only run scored.  Jessica Herbst (Naples) didn't allow an earned run in three innings of relief work.

The Lady Pioneers (2-5) conclude their spring trip on Friday with a doubleheader beginning with a 9 a.m. contest vs. CC of Morris (NJ) followed by an 11 a.m. game vs. Cumberland (NJ) County College.
