Wrestlers compete at Jamestown

The Alfred State College wrestling team spent this past weekend at Jamestown CC competing on both Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the Pioneers fell 36-15 to Jamestown CC in a dual meet that was rescheduled from earlier in the week.  Cody Lansberry (Kendall) earned the blue and gold's lone victory on the mat with a 5-3 decision at 157 lbs.  Mike Gustafson (Warren, PA) and Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) each earned forfeit wins.

On Saturday, ASC competed in the annual JCC Open.  Gustafson, Lansberry, and Dan Dwyer (Lafayette) earned first round wins but could not advance any further.  Gustafson defeated Cody Billotte (Lycoming) 14-1, Lansberry downed JD Bardanis (Niagara CCC) 4-0, and Dwyer downed Martin Giboo (Jamestown CC) 8-0.

Darren Whittall (Starpoint), Rollins, and Dan Steiger (Miller Place) all fell in their first round contests but rebounded with victories.  Rollins and Steiger both registered pins.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday evening when they host Mercyhurst North East in their home finale.  Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
