Brooks leads Lady Pioneers past Erie

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) scored a career high 33 points as the Alfred State College women's basketball team outscored Erie CC 50-30 in the second half en route to a 89-75 victory.  The Lady Pioneers are now 7-8 on the season and 2-2 in WNYAC play.

Brooks was 11 for 20 from the field, 2 for 3 from three, and 9 for 14 from the foul line as she scored over 30 for the second straight game.  She also grabbed 13 rebounds, passed out four assists, and was credited with four steals.  Brooks scored 80 points during the Lady Pioneers three games this week.

Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free) recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.  She also grabbed seven boards.  Danielle Hanchett (Genesee Valley) came off the bench and recorded a season high 13 points while Gina Moss (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) finished with 10 points and nine boards.  Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) also had a solid game finishing with eight points, nine rebounds, and six assists.

Shaneya Ferguson led the Lady Kats with 16 points while Shavonne Garner added 13 points.  Magan Campbell also finished in double figures with 10.

Erie led 45-39 at half but ASC shot 44.4% (16 for 36) from the field and made 15 foul shots (out of 23) in the second half to grab the lead.  For the game the Lady Pioneers held a 59 to 49 advantage on the boards.

Alfred State returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Monroe CC for a 6 p.m. tilt with the Tribunes.
