Submitted by WelkerPM on Thu, 01/22/2009 - 9:25pm

The Alfred State College women's basketball team couldn't hold on to a halftime lead and fell 77-62 to Jamestown CC in a WNYAC match-up on Thursday evening.  The Lady Pioneers fall to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in WNYAC play.

Alfred State jumped out to a 30-27 lead at half.  In the second half the teams traded baskets but the Lady Jayhawks pulled away with key shots from outside.

Brittney Brooks (Elmira Free) led all scorers with a career high 30 points.  Christina Loder (Brantford, ONT) finished with nine, Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free) chipped in eight, and Gina Moss (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) added seven.

Kari Barmore led Jamestown with 17 points while Taylor Lubi finished with 14.

The Lady Pioneers return home on Saturday to take on Erie CC.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
