Men's Basketball Fall in Opener

The Alfred State College men's basketball team fell 74-63 to Delaware Tech in their 2008-09 season opener at the Monroe CC Classic on Saturday. 

Chris Dalton (Elmira Southside) was the only Pioneer in double figures.  He was 5 for 12 from three-point land and led the team with 24 points.  Neil Wilson (Fort Worth, TX) and Terrell Williams (Rochester/Marshall) both finished with nine points.

The Pioneers were slowed down by a 46 to 29 disadvantage on the boards.  Del Tech led 31-25 and held a 16 point lead with six minutes remaining before ASC went on a run and cut it to six points with two minutes remaining.

ASC will take on Rockland CC in day two of the Monroe Classic on Sunday at 1 p.m.
