“Taste from Home Recipe” Contest

Home cooking takes center stage this fall at Alfred State College's Central Dining Hall as the dining services team introduces the "Taste from Home Recipe" contest. 

Five categories of recipes will be judged by the dining services team.  The categories are:

  1. Casserole
  2. Cold salad
  3. Soup
  4. Vegetarian/vegan entrée
  5. Main dish entrée

The contest is open to family members of current Alfred State College students.

Recipes will be judged on taste, originality, ease of preparation, cost per serving, and appearance. ACES staff will select recipes to be judged.  Judges will choose finalists for the contest.  The judges will disqualify recipes, which to their knowledge, are previously published recipes. Winning recipes may be from any category.  Winners will be selected from the finalists via popular vote from CDH diners during the week of Nov. 3.  Finalists and winners will be notified by e-mail and published on the ACES Web portal.

Three prize winners will be announced in November.  Prizes will be paid either in cash or deposited into a student's Dining Dollars or CSA as follows:

  • 1st place: Choice of $200 cash or $225 in Dining Dollars/CSA
  • 2nd place: Choice of $150 cash or $175 in Dining Dollars/CSA
  • 3rd place: Choice of $100 cash or $125 in Dining Dollars/CSA
