Washburn earns NFC Special Teams Honor

Preston WashburnAlfred State College punter/tight end Preston Washburn (Dundee) has been named the Northeast Football Conference co-special teams player of the week.  Washburn had a solid game in the Pioneers 21-14 victory over Stevens Tech on Saturday afternoon.

Washburn punted seven times for 274 yards and a 39.1 yard average.  Two of his punts landed inside the five yard line and he had a long of 53 yards.  He also contributed offensively with a 37-yard touchdown catch in the 3rd quarter.

Washburn shares the weekly honor with ECC's Corby Eason.  Erie's Brian Fowler was named NFC offensive player of the week while Mike McDonald from Lackawanna took the defensive honors.

A-State returns to action on Saturday with a 7 p.m. homecoming contest versus Erie CC.
