Women in 4th, Men in 5th after Day One at Nationals

Alfred State College freshman Reaghan Bulkley (Avoca) earned 2nd place in the long jump to highlight day one of the NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship.  The women's team has scored 14 points and sits in 4th place while the men have 18 points and are in 5th place.

Bulkley's season best leap of 5.09 m earned her 2nd in the long jump and the top finish of any Pioneer athlete on day one. 

The 4 x 800 relay teams each had a solid day.  The men's team of Hector Cuero (Middletown), Brian Zintel (Letchworth), Zak Williamson (Rocky Point), and Mike Kaplan (Tri-Valley) finished in 3rd (8:02.59) while the women's team of Callie Ayers (Letchworth), Nikki D'Andrea (Rush Henrietta), Jen Chan (Genesee Valley), and Kaleigh Logoci (Cicero North Syracuse) finished 5th (10:41.42).

Andy Omoregie (Gates Chili) finished 5th in the long jump (6.82 m), Nate Smith (Clymer) finished 5th in the hammer throw (41.97 m), Alex Curran (Williamson) finished 6th in the pole vault (3.76 m), and Dan Reynolds (Wayland Cohocton) was 8th in the pole vault (3.16 m). 

Emily Fields (Red Creek) finished 7th in the hammer throw (31.10 m) and Chan finished 10th in the 10,000 (46:46.92).

The men's 4 x 100 relay team qualified for the finals with a sprint of 44.44.
