Lax falls in Regional Opener

The Alfred State College lacrosse team started slow and never could recover as they fell 19-7 to Hudson Valley CC in a Region III Tournament 1st round match-up played in Troy, NY on Tuesday afternoon.  ASC finishes the season 8-6 while HVCC advances the semi-finals to take on the winner of #2 Onondaga CC and #7 Jefferson CC.

Hudson Valley led 5-1 after the first quarter and led 7-1 at half en route to the victory.

Josh Mateo (Waterloo) had a hat trick to lead the Pioneers offense while Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) recorded three points with a goal and two assists.  Bill Jolly (Waterloo), Ryan Grogan (Churchville), and William Ardolino (William Floyd) each scored once and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) picked up an assist.

Deljae Edwards (Syracuse/Nottingham) made 15 saves in net for the Blue and Gold.

ASC was making its second trip to the Region III Tournament in the three years that Todd Weil has been at the helm of the Pioneers lacrosse program.
