Men Remain 5th, Women ranked 8th in latest poll

Submitted by WelkerPM on Thu, 04/17/2008 - 2:49pm

The Alfred State College track and field teams remain in the top ten of the latest NJCAA Division III poll.  The men's team remains ranked #5 while the women slipped down to #8 after being ranked #6 last week.

Last week, the Pioneers men won the Houghton College Invitational while the women finished in 3rd out of five teams competing.  A scheduled meet at the University of Rochester on Sunday was cancelled due to poor weather.

The Blue and Gold have a busy stretch of action in the next week.  Most of the team will compete at the SUNY Brockport Invitational on Saturday while some athletes will compete Sunday and Monday in the Region III Championship Decathlon/Hepthlon.  On Tuesday, the team will travel to Ithaca College for a 3:30 p.m. meet that was just added to the schedule.
