Pioneers suffer first Region III defeat

The Alfred State College lacrosse team fell 17-6 to Monroe CC in the first ever night contest at the new on-campus athletic complex.  The Pioneers see their five game winning streak come to an end and suffer their first Region III loss.  The Blue and Gold are now 6-2 (5-1 Region III) while the Tribunes improve to 6-4.

With the game tied at 3-3 with 11:53 in the 2nd quarter, Monroe went on a 7 to 1 run into the 3rd quarter to take control of the contest.  10 different Tribunes found the back of the net led by Dan Hinderland, Jake Fricano, and Lantz Carter each netting hat tricks.

William Ardolino (William Floyd) scored twice for ASC while Ryan Grogan (Churchville) and Bill Jolly (Waterloo) each had a goal and an assist.  Josh Mateo (Waterloo) and Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) found the back of the net once each while Mitch Wensel (Corning East) and Jonathan Rivers (Saratoga Springs) were credited with an assist.

Deljae Edwards (Syracuse/Nottingham) made 21 saves in net for the Blue and Gold.

A-State returns to action on Friday when they travel to Finger Lakes CC for a 4 p.m. battle with the Lakers.
