Lacrosse wins 5th straight

The Alfred State College lacrosse team downed Jefferson CC 17-12 to run their current winning streak to five games and improve to 6-1 on the season.

William Ardolino (William Floyd) led the offense with four goals and three assists while Bill Jolly (Waterloo) added four goals and an assist.  Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) found the back of the net four times, Jose Mateo (Waterloo) added two goals and two assists, and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) had a goal and an assist.  Ryan Grogan (Churchville) passed out two assists while Cory Mee (Churchville) and Jonathan Rivers (Saratoga Spings) each scored one goal.

Deljae Edwards (Syracuse/Nottingham) remained undefeated in net by making eight saves.

The Pioneers led 10-4 at half and with the win improve to 5-0 in Region III play.

The Blue and Gold begin a three-game week on Tuesday with the first ever night contest in the new athletic complex.  The Pioneers take on Monroe CC (5-4) beginning at 7 p.m.
