Men Win, Women finish 3rd at Houghton

The Alfred State College track and field team had another solid day as they competed at the Houghton College Invitational.  The men's team finished on top of the five team competition while the women finished 3rd.

Tyrell Davis (Mt. Vernon) and Alvin Flemming (Eastridge) were double winners on the men's side.  Davis won the discus (35.81 m) and the shot put (12.63 m) while Flemming won the 100 (11.19) and the 200 (23.08).

Broncho Rollins (Ithaca) won the javelin (39.82 m), Zak Williamson (Rocky Point) won the 3,000 steeplechase (10:08.69), and Dan Fabiny (Wellsville) finished 2nd in the discus (35.73 m) and the 100 (11.29).  Nate Smith (Clymer) earned a 2nd place finish in the hammer throw (41.52 m).

On the women's side, Najia McGee (Rochester/Edison) won two events.  She ran the 100 in 12.85 and the 200 in 26.28 to claim victories.

The men scored 59 points, followed by Houghton's 42, Erie CC's 30, Finger Lakes CC's 23, and Roberts Wesleyan's 5.

Houghton won the women's competition with 81 points.  Roberts Wesleyan scored 30, ASC had 20, Finger Lakes 16, and Erie CC 14.

The Pioneers will return to action on Sunday when they travel to compete at the University of Rochester.  Action is set for 10 a.m.
