Big Third Quarter Leads Lacrosse to Win

The Alfred State College lacrosse team scored 12 unanswered goals to erase a 7-5 halftime deficit to en route to a 19-8 victory over Cayuga CC on Tuesday evening.  The win improves the Pioneers to 4-1 (3-0 Region III).

Ben Rossignolo (Churchville) led the offense with six goals while Bill Jolly (Waterloo) and Josh Mateo (Waterloo) each recorded hat tricks.  Ryan Grogan (Churchville) scored twice and had two assists, William Ardolino (William Floyd) scored twice and had an assist, and Mitch Wensel (Corning East) netted two goals.  Cory Mee (Churchville) rounded out the scoring with a goal.

Deljae Edwards (Syracuse/Nottingham) recorded his second straight victory in net with 11 saves.

The Pioneers return home on Thursday for a 4 p.m. battle with Broome CC.  The Hornets entered today's competition with a 5-1 record.
