Softball Wraps up Spring Trip

The Alfred State College softball team split their final doubleheader at Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Pioneers earned a forfeit victory in their opener over Massasoit (MA) CC and then fell 5-2 to Marshalltown (IA) CC.  ASC finishes the trip with a 1-7 record.

In the opener, Massasoit was unable to field a team after the flu bug hit the team and left the coaching staff with just eight players.

In the nightcap, Holly Fitzpatrick (Hornell) led the offense with a 2 for 3 performance.  She scored a run and connected on a double.  Bridgett Bachert (Horseheads) finished 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Becky Simpson (Campbell Savona) pitched well but took the loss.  She allowed four hits in seven innings while striking out six batters.

The Lady Pioneers return to action on March 28 when they travel to Elmira College for a 3 p.m. doubleheader vs. the JV Eagles.
