Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The Alfred State College softball team fell in both halves of a doubleheader as they continued play at Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers (0-4) fell 2-1 in the opener to Rochester (MN) CTC and then fell 11-2 to Southwestern (IA) CC.

In the opener Becky Simpson (Campbell Savona) didn't allow an earned run but was the tough luck loser.  She struck out five batters on the day.  Bridgett Bachert (Horseheads) accounted for the lone run of the game when she connected on a solo homer, her first of her career.

In the nightcap vs. Southwestern, the Pioneers offense was led by Sarah Flint (Westmoreland).  She finished 2 for 2 with a double while Simpson accounted for both RBI's and finished 1 for 2 on the day.

The Lady Pioneers continue play on Wednesday when they take on OSU - Newark at 9:30 a.m. and Mercer (NJ) County CC at 11:30 a.m.
