A-State down Lady Kats

The Alfred State College women's basketball team got solid contributes from Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) and Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) in a 73-61 victory over Erie CC on Tuesday evening.  With the win the Lady Pioneers improve to 15-7 (6-3 WNYAC & 6-1 Region III Division II).

McLaughlin was 11 for 17 from the field and 10 for 10 from the foul line as she recorded her third contest with 30 or more points.  She finished with 32 points.  Smith recorded her 16th double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds.  She also added six steals.  Sherelle Brooks (Elmira Free) chipped in seven points for the Lady Pioneers.

Kayla Mahiques and Jackee Thompson each finished with 13 points.

A-State has a couple days off before hosting Mercyhurst North East on Saturday.  Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
