Lady Pioneers fall to Monroe
The Alfred State College women's basketball team fell 81-42 to Monroe CC in a WNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tribunes improve to 13-6 overall while the Lady Pioneers fall to 14-7 (5-3 WNYAC).
Anthia Smith (Elmira Free) recorded her 15th double-double of the season and third this week leading the Lady Pioneers with 19 points and 14 rebounds. Kristin Abbott (Webster Thomas) chipped in eight points off the bench while Tiffany McLaughlin (Wellsville) added six.
Brittany Hilliard led four Lady Tribunes in double figures with 19 points. Caila Desroches added 14 points, Charmonique Watt chipped in 12 points, and Kristina Rosario recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Monroe shot 40.2% from the field while Alfred shot just 28.1%. The Tribunes also held a 58 to 48 advantage on the boards and forced the Lady Pioneers into 25 turnovers.
A-State returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Erie CC for a match-up with the Lady Pioneers. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Flickenger Center.
