Foley nets 30 as A-State downs Mercyhurst

Dan Foley (Irondequoit) led Alfred State to a big WNYAC victory over Mercyhurst North East, 80-78, on Thursday evening.  Foley scored a career high 30 points as the Pioneers improve to 13-4 overall and 2-0 in WNYAC play.

Foley was 10 for 15 from the field, 2 for 2 from three, and 8 for 10 from the foul line in 39 minutes of play.  He also added nine rebounds, five assists, and four blocks.

Travis Brannen (Elmira Free) finished with more than 20 points for his second straight game.  He was 10 for 16 from the field and finished with 21 points.  Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) added nine points while Pat White (Warren, OH) added nine points and 10 boards.

ASC shot 55% from the field, 60% (3 for 5) from three, and 64.7% from the foul line.  The Pioneers led 37-33 at half and held a 40 to 37 advantage on the boards.

Leon Rollins led four Saints in double figures with 28 points.  Thomas Murphy added 13 while George Cox and Dean Brown each finished with 10 each.  The Saints shot 46.5% from the field, 44.4% from three, and just 25% (4 for 16) from the foul line.  Mercyhurst falls to 14-6 overall and 3-3 in WNYAC action.

A-State returns to action on Saturday when they host Jamestown CC at 3 p.m.
