Pioneers roll past Olean

The Alfred State College men's basketball team opened up the 2008 portion of their season with a strong performance in a 71-39 victory over JCC-Olean.  Travis Branen (Elmira Free) had a monster game with 22 points and 16 rebounds as the Pioneers won their 4th straight and improved to 12-4 (1-0 WNYAC) on the season.

Brannen was 11 for 18 from the floor and grabbed five offensive and 11 defensive rebounds in 31 minutes of play.  Dan Foley (Irondequoit) added 15 points and 10 rebounds while Cerrone Jackson (Forrest Hills) came off the bench and chipped in nine.  Turell Parker (Lyons) had a solid game finishing with seven points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists.  All eight Pioneers that dressed scored.

Aaron Wight led the Jaguars with 12 points while Jon Reed and Andy Evans each finished with 10 each.

The Pioneers hit the road on Thursday for a 8 p.m. contest at Mercyhurst North East.
