Braun named NJCAA Setter of the Week

Elaina BraunAlfred State College sophomore setter Elaina Braun (Waterloo) of fifth-ranked Lady Pioneers has been named the NJCAA Division III volleyball setter of the week. Braun is the second Lady Pioneer to be honored by NJCAA Volleyball (Jenni Jerome).

The 5-10 setter averaged 10.7 assists (192 assists), 2.8 digs (50 digs), 1.5 kills (26 kills) and 0.6 service aces (11 aces) over 18 games last week.

Braun led Alfred State to a 7-0 record last week, including two wins over #10 Jamestown and a win over others receiving votes Corning. In the first Jamestown match she collected week-highs of 46 assists, 16 digs and six kills. She was named to the all-tournament team at the Alfred State tournament and has led the team to 17 straight victories.

For the season, Braun has played in 67 games and is averaging 10.85 assists, 2.01 digs, and 1.3 kills per game.

ASC takes the floor again on Saturday when they participate in the Western New York Athletic Conference Tournament. The Lady Pioneers are the #2 seed in the tournament.
