Pioneers earn #8 Seed

The Alfred State College men's soccer team has earned the #8 seed in the Region III Division III Tournament and will match up with #9 Finger Lakes CC on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in a 1st round contest.

The Pioneers went 7-6-2 overall in the regular season and 7-4-2 in Region III Division III play while the Lakers finished their campaign with a 11-7 record.

ASC downed FLCC 2-0 in a contest played at Alfred State on September 13.  Eric Nichols (Holland) and Tyler Paulsen (Letchworth) scored 2nd half goals in the victory.  Josh Kashuba (Marathon) made six saves in net.

Paulsen leads the Blue and Gold with eight goals and three assists while Dustin Falkner (Letchworth) has 14 points (six goals and two assists).  Kashuba has a 1.35 goals against average and has split time with Tommy Vitro (Margaretville) who has a 0.83 goals against average.

The winner of this 1st round contest will travel to #1 SUNY Cobleskill (15-1 and ranked #4 nationally) for a quarterfinal contest on Tuesday afternoon.
