Lady Pioneers win 12th straight

The Alfred State College volleyball team won their 12th straight match with a 3-0 (30-8, 30-21, 30-11)victory over Mercyhurst North East in a WNYAC match-up.  The Lady Pioneers, ranked #6 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, are now 20-2 overall and 5-0 in WNYAC play.

Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) led the Lady Pioneers with 11 digs and six kills while Brianne McMahon (Buffalo/Sweet Home) added seven kills and six digs.  Elaina Braun (Waterloo) finished with 26 assists, eight digs, and five kills, Shannon Jablonski (Cheektowaga) finished with six kills, and Georgia Buchholz (Andover) finished with eight digs. 

The Lady Pioneers return to action on Saturday when they host their annual tournament.  ASC will take on Broome CC at 10 a.m., Tompkins Cortland CC at 12:30 p.m., and Jefferson CC at 3 p.m. in pool play. 

 Erie CC, Corning CC, Onondaga CC, and Jamestown CC will play in the other pool.  The playoffs of the tournament are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
