Alfred State College sophomore cornerback Brian Abrams (Saranac Lake) has been named the Northeast Football Conference defensive player of the week.
Abrams recorded seven tackles (four solo) and picked off two passes for the Pioneers in their 34-28 loss to Dean College on Saturday. He returned his first interception 30-yards for a score late in the 1st quarter to give the Pioneers a 14-0 lead.
Abrams is the fourth Pioneer to be honored by the NFC.
Erie CC's Aaron Valentin and Dean College's Anthony Rodriguez were named co-offensive players of the week while John Rachuna (Erie) won the the special teams award for the third time this fall.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday when they host Berean Institute at Maple City Park at Noon.
