Late Goals lead Pioneers past Erie

Alfred State and Erie CC battled in a scoreless tie for the first 81 minutes but the Pioneers netted two goals in the final 8:20 to down the Kats 2-0.  With the win the Blue and Gold improve to 5-6-1 on the season and 5-4-1 in Region III Division III play.

Tyler Paulsen (Letchworth) drove to the net and finished to net his 6th goal of the season to give ASC the lead with 8:20 remaining.

Eric Nichols (Holland) made it 2-0 with 5:30 remaining when he connected on a goal in front of the net after a scramble of shots.  Dom Bisone (Tonawanda) was credited with the assist.

The Pioneers held a huge 31 to 5 advantage on shots.  Tommy Vitro (Margaretville) made four saves in net for A-State while Scott Augustine made 14 saves.

The Pioneers look to build on their current two-game winning streak on Thursday when they travel to JCC-Olean for a 4 p.m. contest.
