Jerome Named Region Athlete of the Week

Jenni JeromeAlfred State College freshman outside hitter Jenni Jerome (Syracuse/Westhill) has been named the Region III Female Athlete of the Week.  Jerome helped the Lady Pioneers volleyball team to an 8-0 week including a 7-0 record at the Onondaga CC Tournament.

Jerome finished the week with 69 kills in 117 attempts (.462 hitting percentage).  She also chipped in 32 digs and 12 blocks.  At the OCC Tournament she registered 13 kills vs. Onondaga, 11 vs. Fulton Montgomery, and nine vs. Jamestown in the tournament Finals.  For her solid play, Jerome was named the MVP of the tournament.

For the year, Jerome has 111 kills (2.523 per game), 76 digs, and 16.5 blocks.

Jerome is the first Alfred State athlete to win this Region III honor during the 2007-08 school year.

Jerome and the Lady Pioneers, 17-2 ranked #9 in the latest NJCAA Division III poll, return to action on Thursday when they travel to #7 Corning CC for a 6:30 p.m. battle with the Lady Red Barons.
