Lancscape Students Help ASC Grounds Crew
Alfred State College ornamental horticulture-landscape design students put their skills to work helping the college grounds crew keep up with the beautification of Alfred State Campus. The ornamental horticulture-landscape design program faculty wholeheartedly embraced the opportunity for students to obtain real-world, hands-on education that Alfred State is known for while giving back to the campus community. Lynn DuPuis, assistant professor, Agriculture and Horticulture Department and landscape program director, and Mike Crandall, maintenance supervisor, Facilities Services, proposed to the beautification committee that the students get a real-world experience and in the process help the campus crews. Students started several weeks ago in their professional practice class applying their skills and making a real difference. DuPuis says, "The students are taking such pride in their work and the time they are giving back. I am very proud of them they are a really great bunch of hard working students."
