Lady Pioneers drop heartbreaker

Genesee CC scored with 5:38 remaining in the contest to break a 1-1 tie en route to a 2-1 Western New York Athletic Conference victory over Alfred State on Tuesday afternoon.  The win improves the Lady Cougars to 7-2-1 and drops the Lady Pioneers to 3-4-1.

After a scoreless 1st half Jenna Ferrando was credited with a goal with 33:08 remaining to give GCC a 1-0 lead.  Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) knotted the game up 15 minutes later when she scored after getting a pass from Jody Ninos (Alfred Almond).  Heather Magro scored the game winner off of a corner kick opporturnity.

Alfred State was out-shot 12 to 6 on the game.  Philicia Harris (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) finished with 10 saves.

The Lady Pioneers hit the road again on Thursday when they travel to Broome CC for a 4 p.m. contest versus the Lady Hornets.
