A-State hangs tough with Monroe

The Alfred State College men's soccer team hung tough with #10 Monroe CC in a Western New York Athletic Conference contest.  MCC, 7-1 overall, downed the Pioneers 3-0.

 Roberto Zevallos scored early on to give MCC a 1-0.  Faton Amerllahu scored in the 37th minute after getting a pass from Dom Colaprete to make it 2-0 heading into the half.

Amerllahu scored his 2nd goal of the game just over twenty minutes into the 2nd half to cap the scoring.

Monroe held a 13 to 2 shot advantage in the game.  Josh Kashuba (Marathon) made nine saves for ASC while Charles Maxwell made two saves to earn the shutout.

The Pioneers, 3-6-1 overall, 3-4-1 Region III Division III, continue their homestand on Saturday with a 1 p.m. contest versus Niagara CCC.
