Spikers Down Monroe

The Alfred State College volleyball team downed the defending Region III Division III champions 3-1 on Tuesday evening.  The Lady Pioneers, ranked #10 NJCAA Divison III, improved to 10-2 with the victory over Monroe CC, 30-25, 30-17, 27-30, and 32-30.

Brianne McMahon (Buffalo/Sweet Home) paced the Blue and Gold with 20 kills.  She finished the night with a .435 hitting percentage.  Jenni Jermone (Syracuse/Westhill) finished with nine kills and five blocks.  Elaina Braun (Waterloo) was steady all evening finishing with eight kills, 44 assists, and six blocks.

The Lady Pioneers travel to the Onodaga CC Tournament this weekend.  A-State opens up play on Friday with a 4 p.m. contest vs. Mohawk Valley CC.  On Friday, the team will also take on Fulton Montgomery at 6:30 and Erie CC at 9 p.m.
