Lady Pioneers down Mercyhurst North East

Ashleigh Houtaling (Northern Potter, PA) and Brittany Hannah (Eastridge) each scored two goals and passed out an assist as the Alfred State College women's soccer snapped a three-game slide with a 6-0 victory over Mercyhurst North East.  The Lady Pioneers improve to 2-3-1 on the year.

Hannah got the Pioneers on the board 13:50 into the 1st half when she scored on a pass from Houghtaling.  Holly Fitzpatrick (Hornell) made it 2-0 at 27:30 when her shot bounced off an opponent and into the net.  Hannah scored her 2nd goal one minute later after getting a pretty pass from Jody Ninos (Alfred Almond).  Callie Ayers (Letchworth) made it 4-0 heading into halftime when she scored with just under five minutes remaining.

Houghtaling netted both goals in the 2nd half. She scored at 15:51 in the half after getting a pass from Fitzpatrick.  She capped the scoring in the final minutes after getting a pass from Hannah.

The Lady Pioneers held a 32 to 2 advantage in shots.  Chitarra Craig made 15 saves in net for Mercyhurst North East whle Philicia Harris (Buffalo/Hutch Tech made a save on the only shot on net to record the shutout.

A-State returns to action on Saturday when they travel to Jamestown CC for a 1 p.m. battle with the Lady Jayhawks.
