ASC falls to Lady Cannoneers

The Alfred State College women's soccer team scored first but saw Jefferson CC score late in the 1st half and scored four unanswered goals in the 2nd half en route to a 5-1 Region III Division III victory on Saturday afternoon.

Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond) gave the Lady Pioneers a 1-0 lead with 6:35 remaining in the 1st half.  She scored after getting a pass from Jody Ninos (Alfred Almond).  Jefferson tied the game with just 15 seconds in the 1st half.

The game remained tied until Jefferson scored three goals in a nine minute stretch to take control of the contest.  The Cannoneers scored with 22 minutes, 16 minutes, and 13 minutes left.  They added another insurance goal with just four minutes left.

Alfred State out-shot JCC 10-9.  Philicia Harris (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) made four saves in net.

The Lady Pioneers (1-3-1) return to action on Tuesday when they host Mercyhurst North East.  The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
