Lady Pioneers tie Delhi

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

The Alfred State College women's soccer team was out-shot 40 to 9 but behind the solid play of goaltender Philicia Harris (Buffalo/Hutch Tech) the Lady Pioneers tied SUNY Delhi 2-2 in a Region III Division III contest on Saturday.  Harris finished the contest with 30 saves for ASC.

Brittany Hannah (Rochester/Eastridge) got the Pioneers on the board in the 1st half after getting a pass from Kaila Smith (Alfred Almond).  Delhi's Courtney Hoyt tied it up in the 2nd half before Hannah once again gave ASC a one-goal lead minutes later when she scored on a rebound of a Jody Ninos (Alfred Almond) shot.  Corrine Ketel tied up the game with just over ten minutes remaining to send the game into overtime.  Neither team could capitalize in either of the 10-minute overtime periods.

Breanna Gauff made six saves in net for the Lady Broncos.

The Lady Pioneers (1-0-1) continue a busy stretch of games on Sunday when they travel to Finger Lakes CC for a 1 p.m. battle with the Lady Lakers.
