Tyler and Simpson named All-Region

Alfred State softball players Nichole Tyler (Spencer Van Etten) and Becky Simpson (Campbell Savona) have been honored by Region III by being named to the Division III All-Region team.  Tyler was a 1st team selection while Simpson made the 2nd team.

Tyler led the Lady Pioneers with a .398 batting average (33 for 83).  She collected three doubles, two triples, and two home runs.  She scored 23 runs, drove in 23 runs, and stole seven bases.

Simpson was 13-4 on the mound this spring.  She tossed 105.2 innings and finished the year with a 2.98 ERA.  She registered victories in her first 12 appearances on the season.  For the year she struck out 119 batters while allowing just 65 hits.

The Lady Pioneers were ranked as high as #3 in the NJCAA Division III poll in the early part of the season and finished the season with a 16-14 record.
