Forty Year Recognition Spring 2007
Robert Albrecht, State University of New York (SUNY) distinguished teaching professor, English and Humanities, Alfred State College, was honored recently for his 40 years of service at the college.
A member of the faculty since 1967, he has held the rank of distinguished teaching professor since 2001.
In 1998, Albrecht was awarded the 1997-98 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching from among the thousands of classroom teachers, librarians, and professional service employees in the SUNY system.
Albrecht is also a past recipient of the School of Liberal Studies Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching (1982). He also was a two-time recipient of the ASC Alumni Association's Teacher of the Year award. Only students may nominate faculty for this award.
Albrecht holds bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Alfred University and a master's degree in English and education from SUNY Buffalo.
Albrecht is a 1962 graduate of Dolgeville Central School. He is married to the former Barbara Ostrom of Dolgeville. They reside in Alfred Station and are the parents of three grown children: Molly, Kate, and John. A native of Little Falls, Albrecht is the son of the late Robert and Katherine Albrecht.
Albrecht's 40 years were recognized at a luncheon at the end of the spring semester. He received a certificate and college lamp to commemorate the occasion.
